HIZAM HARON

Principal and lead Creative Director Hizam Haron believes the tension between art and commerce is the inspiration of great work. The Singapore-born creative has over 15 years of experience in the integration of cross-media solutions for retail, corporate and non-profit clients, including several arts organizations.

Hizam started his career being mentored by Kit Hinrichs at Pentagram working on interdisplinary projects in the fledgling interactive scene, broadcast graphics, and identity programs for clients including Microsoft, Union Bank of California, Chevron, Clorox and Graphis. Subsequently, he became the sole designer for Jennifer Morla at Morla Design executing multiple projects from start to finish for Levi's, SFMOMA, Williams-Sonoma, Wind River and Design Within Reach. Before founding Hizam Design in 2003, he held the position of Design Director at Banana Republic’s in-house creative department. There he was involved in the fast-paced, client-side corporate environment responsible for relationship marketing, event branding, in-store environments, and publications.

He is a recipient of several design awards from such organizations as AIGA, Graphis, I.D. magazine, Print magazine and the Singapore American Business Association. His work have been published in various design periodicals, books and newspapers, and 5 pieces he designed are in the permanent architecture and design collection of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. A graduate of California College of the Arts, Hizam is an active member of AIGA sitting as a reviewer in the yearly portfolio reviews.

ANDREW SALZMAN

Principal and Marketing/Brand Strategist Andrew Salzman believes that great brands fulfill significant consumer needs and desires in personal ways that appeal to the head and the heart. A native of New York City, Andrew is a 30 year marketing and brand strategy expert known for his innovative work as a Chief Marketing Officer at Global 1000, mid-market, and emerging consumer and technology firms. In addition to 17 years on the corporate side, Andrew spent 14 years in the advertising business as a regional managing director in the US (6 years), Europe (2 years), and Asia (6 years) managing blue-chip accounts at P&G, Nestle, Sharp, Mars/Masterfoods, and other leading global firms.

Among his major achievements, Andrew pioneered Kodak’s transformation from traditional film to digital imaging through a brand strategy focused on taking pictures to a new place in people’s lives. He led messaging efforts for Siebel Systems during its meteoric growth in creating the CRM category through focus on customer intimacy, not technology, as the mission critical business driver. He refocused Compaq’s messaging around open enterprise solutions to compete successfully against proprietary IBM, HP, and Sun models. And his seminal work on P&G bar soaps, acne remedies, baby products, and health/personal care pioneered P&G’s category and brand management practices.

Andrew’s capabilities support both domestic and international companies, and include marketing strategy, brand and messaging, new product launches, go-to-market programs, marketing-sales alignment, and social media programs.

Andrew is a board member at Cross Cultural Communications, and serves on the advisory boards of Target Data and OnRequest Images. He graduated from UC Berkeley and resides in San Francisco.
